ManyChat earned its position. It has the biggest template library, the deepest flow builder, and coverage across Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS, and Telegram. For agencies running complex funnels across channels, it is still a defensible choice. But for creators, the pricing model has a design flaw that gets more expensive every time your content works: ManyChat bills by "active contacts", the number of people who engage with your automations each month. A reel that pops is a bill that jumps.
The tension became impossible to ignore in March 2026, when ManyChat restructured its plans into five tiers: the free tier dropped to 25 active contacts (from 1,000), and published monthly rates now run Essential $17, Pro $39, Business $99, and Advanced $199, with contact allowances of 250, 2,500, 7,500, and 25,000 respectively. Annual billing brings those to roughly $14, $29, $69, and $139. Twenty-five contacts is one modestly successful post. The restructure sent a wave of creators looking for alternatives, and a market of flat-price tools has grown up to catch them. This post maps that landscape honestly: what each alternative actually offers, where each one falls short, and the math at three audience sizes.
The problem with paying per contact
Contact-based pricing means your bill is a function of your success. Run a "comment LINK" campaign that brings in 3,000 new conversations, and you have not just grown your audience, you have changed pricing tiers. The model creates three practical problems for creators.
- Unpredictability: you cannot budget for a bill that depends on how well next month's content performs. Viral months, the ones you want, are the expensive ones.
- Perverse incentives: creators start limiting automations, archiving contacts, or switching campaigns off to stay under a tier threshold, deliberately throttling their own growth tooling.
- Overages on top of tiers: going past your plan's contact allowance is billed per extra contact, reported in the range of roughly $0.018 to $0.10 each depending on plan and billing cycle. So the tier price is a floor, not a ceiling, in exactly the months your content works.
The math at three audience sizes
A creator whose automations touch 2,000 contacts a month sits on ManyChat's Pro tier at $39/mo. At 10,000 active contacts you are past Business (7,500) and into Advanced at $199/mo. At 25,000 you are at the top of Advanced, still $199/mo, with overages beyond it. A flat-price tool costs the same at every one of those sizes. Against Delyt Social's Influencer Pro at $15/mo, the 25,000-contact case is a difference of roughly $2,200 a year for the same automations.
What to look for in an alternative
- Official Meta API only. The tool should connect via OAuth login and be approved by Meta. Anything asking for your password is risking your account.
- Flat pricing with unlimited contacts, otherwise you are just choosing a different meter.
- The triggers you actually use: comment-to-DM on posts and reels, story replies, and DM keywords cover the overwhelming majority of creator campaigns.
- What happens after the first DM: can it answer a follow-up question, or does every unscripted reply hit a dead end?
- Somewhere for real conversations to land: brand deals and problems need an inbox, not a message-request graveyard.
The alternatives, honestly compared
These are the tools creators actually move to, with the trade-offs stated plainly. Pricing is as published in mid-2026; always check current pages before committing.
InstantDM: the minimalist flat-price pick
Instagram-only, flat pricing around $9.99/mo on its entry plan, official Meta API. If all you need is comment-to-link delivery and nothing else, it does that job. Two things to check: comparison write-ups report hourly send caps even on "unlimited" plans, and there is no knowledge grounding, minimal follow-up handling, and no inbox. When a fan replies with a real question, you are back to answering by thumb.
DMdaddy: flat price, metered automations
Built exclusively for Instagram DM automation, with a free tier and paid plans from around $8 to $9/mo including unlimited contacts, plus lifetime deals in the $59 to $199 range. It bundles a monthly allowance of AI credits rather than selling AI as a separate meter, which is unusual at this price. The structural limit is scope: it is a DM tool with a basic flow builder, not a conversation platform with a case inbox behind it.
Inro: the AI-forward one
Inro stands out for AI intent detection (triggers that fire on meaning, not exact keywords), AI-generated public reply variations, CRM tagging, and campaign retargeting. It is the most sophisticated of the creator-focused tools, with a free plan around 100 active contacts and paid plans starting near EUR 12.99/mo. The catch is the model: pricing auto-scales with active contacts, so it solves the sophistication problem without solving the metering one. Worth shortlisting if segmentation and retargeting are central to your funnel.
Chatfuel: flat pricing at a higher tier
Chatfuel offers flat plans with unlimited-contact positioning (published around $69/mo) and a capable flow builder across Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, with AI as an add-on. It solves the metering problem, but at seven times the price of the budget flat tools, it makes sense mainly for businesses running multi-channel funnels, not for creators automating their own audience.
ManyChat itself: when staying is right
Honesty cuts both ways: if you run complex multi-channel funnels across Instagram, WhatsApp, SMS, and Messenger, need the template ecosystem, or an agency manages your flows, ManyChat's depth is real and the alternatives listed above do not fully replace it. The case for leaving is strongest for creators whose usage is Instagram-first and whose audience is growing, exactly the profile the contact meter punishes.
Where Delyt Social fits: flat price, full platform
Delyt Social is our entry in this market, and the positioning is simple: the flat-price tools are single-purpose, and the platform tools are contact-metered. Delyt Social is both flat and a platform, in two plans. Influencer Basic is $9/mo: publishing, Instagram automation, an MCP server, and a case inbox, with unlimited automations, contacts, and DMs. Influencer Pro is $15/mo and adds AI agents grounded in your own knowledge base plus every other channel in the same queue. Neither meters by contact.
- Comment-to-DM, keyword triggers, and story replies, unlimited, with more trigger types on the way.
- AI-grounded replies on Influencer Pro ($15/mo): you load a knowledge base with your content and FAQs, and an agent answers follow-up questions in your brand voice, with sales and support intents, not scripted flows that dead-end on the first real question.
- A real inbox behind the automation on both plans: brand deals, refunds, and anything you reserve for yourself become cases with an owner and full history, on the same case management platform that runs Delyt's helpdesk.
- An MCP server from $9/mo: connect Claude or ChatGPT and run your automations and calendar in plain English. No other tool in this comparison does that.

See Delyt Social for creatorsHow to switch without breaking your campaigns
- 1Inventory your live automations: which posts have active keywords, what each DM says, and which flows actually get triggered (most accounts find 80% of volume comes from a handful of keywords).
- 2Recreate the high-volume triggers on the new platform first, and run both tools in parallel for a few days, duplicate DMs are unlikely since one tool will match first, but watch for them.
- 3Move your FAQ answers into the new platform's knowledge layer (on Delyt, this is where the AI grounding comes from, so the effort pays back immediately).
- 4Announce nothing. Fans never see the switch; the keyword and the DM stay the same.
- 5Cancel the old subscription only after a full campaign cycle has run clean.
The larger point is worth ending on. Automation pricing should be boring: a number you know in January that is still the number in December, whatever your growth did in between. That is how we price the whole Delyt platform, flat plans, no per-seat fees, no per-resolution fees, and both Delyt Social plans extend the same principle to your Instagram. Your audience growing is the goal. It should never be the bill.
